We run a variety of projects at Service Six, which are designed to help different people in different ways.

Caring Connections

Caring Connections is a service dedicated to supporting children and young people in care, and care leavers. We recognise that those with experience of being in care may require extra support, whether it’s related to mental health and wellbeing, achieving their educational goals, or accessing employment opportunities. The project is focused on enhancing their mental health, educational achievements, and employment prospects. This is delivered in collaboration with Stand Out Northamptonshire.

Counselling (FUNDING DEPENDENT)

Therapy, or counselling is a safe place where you can talk to someone about your worries and difficulties. A counsellor listens to you and works with you to help you find ways of coping and to help you gain a better understanding of your thoughts and feelings.

All Service Six counsellors are trauma-informed, and they all have different areas of expertise. The type of counselling you may be offered will depend on your age, presenting difficulties and funding availability. Here is a list of some of the types of therapy that we offer at Service Six:

Psychotherapy

Person-centred Counselling

Psychodynamic Counselling

CBT

REBT

Play Therapy

Theraplay

Art Therapy

Integrative Family Therapy

Happy Heads

The Happy Heads project is for those aged 5-11 years old who would benefit from additional support with their emotional wellbeing. The project aims to help young people build confidence and resilience through emotional support sessions, counselling (for ages 8+), or play therapy (for ages 5+). Additionally, we offer group sessions for year 6 students to help navigate the transition from primary to secondary school.

Northamptonshire Support after Suicide Service - NSASS

The Northamptonshire Support after Suicide Service provides guidance and support to families who have been bereaved by suicide. Losing someone to suicide can be extremely upsetting and traumatic, and can leave families not knowing where to turn. We can provide families with both emotional and practical support, including signposting them to other services where useful. We can work with both children and adults.

Opal Project

The Opal Project supports children and young people aged 10-18 years old who have issues around self-harm. Young people can engage in risky behaviours for many different reasons, and we aim to help them reduce this by working on developing their resilience and improving self-esteem. The Opal Project can work with  young people in either a one-to-one format or via groupwork sessions. During these sessions young people can learn alternative coping strategies, and work on reducing their anxiety and increasing their confidence.

TARGET

TARGET stands for: Targeting and Reducing Grooming, Exploitation and Trading of Children and Young people Online. The TARGET project provides help and support with issues around online safety, grooming and exploitation. The TARGET project works with young people in a number of different ways. They can provide one-to-one work or small group sessions, as well as assemblies and class workshops. The TARGET project also runs TARGET Champions which is a peer mentoring program where young people can learn to support their peers with issues around online safety.
